So I decided to start writing letters, to anyone...

Sometimes Susan, Roselin, or Erie writes but most of the time, it's Fida. mail

Running through 2011

I don't quite remember what my 2011 resolutions were but I remember telling them to Endah through Yahoo Messenger on new year eve. I only remember that two of them were to gain money and expand my network. And hey, it happened this year. Maybe I should thank local government for bringing SEA Games to Palembang that they gave me job? maybe. But because of them, I met hundred people across the globe; from the very east of Asia to our closest neighbor. I worked with different people from 3 different countries in less than 6 months; I worked with the chatty Iranian, friendly Singaporean and funny Burmese. I've made new friends, gotten to know many people, and have seen how complicated our country is. But they are all made a story worth telling.

I've gambled about my feelings, have told the truth, taken chances, ruined my GPA, gotten high, felt disappointed. I've tasted it all. And I'd like to regret things I've done but I remember it was things that I wanted to do at one point of my life. But it was all worth it. Above it all, the year is ended with my research proposal got accepted (though with revision), yay!

Desi Anwar once tweeted, "Don't forget about your future. Just tidy your room, get your work done, do some exercise, take up a hobby. You'll do fine." And I think that's how I'm gonna live my 2012.

I hope this is not too late for a new year post.

It was like fire around the brim

Today’s topic is mostly about reflecting on 3 or 4 years ago, about how your high school life was. And it seems like everybody has the time of their lives when mine was monotonous compared to them. I was a fine student; I keep my mouth good and barely break a rule for the sake that I won’t be in trouble with teachers I loathe. To obey the rules, have to be on time at 7 in the morning, flag ceremony every Mondays and all those aerobics movement every Fridays, man, wasn’t it overrated? It was.

I had my fun times at high school but compare to college life, it was nothing. I don’t think I was being myself. I mean, high school is all about image. It was like a parade; what you wear, what you drive in, people you hang around with, it were all the topics to talk. And then, there are groups. It didn’t really show, but it’s there; that we were divided into groups, like it or not.

But being in college is something that’s really different. There’re groups, but it is for the sake of surviving. There’re rules but they are flexible. We take full responsibilities of ourselves. We are free yet we have boundaries.

somewhere in the milky way

You spend your whole life stuck in the labyrinth, thinking about how you'll escape it one day, and how awesome it will be, and imagining that future keeps you going, but you never do it. You just use the future to escape the present. - Alaska, Looking for Alaska (pg. 26)

Currently in love with that novel and that character, hence, new name for this blog. I'm still working my brain out on a title that I can use in my very own 'yellow book' like those in the picture above.

Pointers

+ I'm not gonna do that 30 days writing challenge anymore. It's already more than 30 days and I'm not being punctual. It's done.
+ Last Friday, I went to Ampera with Fidel, it was spontaneous but it went pretty well.

+ I'm gonna start writing a diary again, maybe...

Day 9- The Invasion of Colonel Sanders

credit

Who in the world doesn’t know who Colonel Sanders is? Yes, a grandfather whose face is framed in front of a fried chicken outlet. Erm, the one that from a state called Kentucky. You know him right?

Well, his troops have been invading Palembang with the opening of his 2 new outlets in very strategic place. Before the opening of these 2 outlets, Palembang already have, as I know, 4 outlets. The difference between these 4 outlets and the new 2 is in the building itself. The new buildings were built alone, the other 4 were join-built with other shops and food outlets. It just seems exclusive. And as we probably already know, when it comes to ‘something new’ and ‘something American’, the place is usually very crowded. Everybody seems wants to eat there. I don’t really know what the reason is, is the taste of the same fried chicken differs when the place is new? Perhaps. Typical Indonesian habit.

It’s the prestige, I get it. But c’mon? We should free our minds from being consumptive on foreign products. We’re being used after all.

Day 6- Food

I'm a fan of food, I mean who doesn't? I eat all the time, stuff calories, life is too short to worry about fat (yea right). Well, since I eat a lot, my weight is over the ideal weight of my height. But who cares since I'm healthy and happy? eating is good. My theory is, as long as you're healthy you can eat whatever you want. Anyway, my stomach always gets hungry when it's 10 pm above and since, my fridge is always empty at night all I can do is to feed my hungry stomach by seeing these pictures. Poor me.

If you're a tumblr user, you know where you get this picture right? yes, ffoodd.tumblr.com. Check it out people. I actually, don't have anything to write :|

Day 1- And we wish for something

Let's experience new things,
Go to new places,
Meet new people,
,
Be a brand new person.

I wish.
I've posted this in 2010 in my other blog but I guess I haven't change much. Those things aren't achieved and I'm wishing for something else. But isn't this what always happen?

Sunday, 9 January 2011

Oh hey, it's 2011!

Last time I post was errm, a year ago krik oh well it's already 2011, so I can count it as a year. I'm not gonna do the run down on what happened in 2010 because in one hand, I have a very short term memory, and in another, nobody cares anyway. But 2010 was very eventful and awesome. I had a resolution, well me and Endah made this 2011 resolution few hours before 2011 through yahoo messenger, haha. There's no need to put it up in here, it was just a reminder on what needs to be achieved, besides, we probably have forgotten about our own resolutions.

Anyway, I've started my 2011 with a busy start; a training and final exams. It's been bumpy but I managed to get through the first week, I can say it's a good start. And to start 2011, I managed to change the look of this blog. I know the title is kinda long; write me notes and post me pictures, but that's what I've been doing in this blog; writing notes and posting pictures. Well, here we go 2011.

How are you world?

I must say I'm not a good writer. My writings are like a junior high school kid's composition tasks, but I just keep writing, though the only one who's gonna read it by the end of the day is just me. To me writing is an experience, an expression, a recognition, and of course a round-up memories. But then, most of the time I'd like to stare at this blank post area for hours and I write nothing. Nothing comes out. Today, I try to write something; for just to fill your curiosity on my existence or simply just to make sure that this blog is still alive.

I'm on a break, final exam starts on 3rd January and my 6th semester begins in late February. And for days, I've been trying to write something for my proposal assignment on deciding which title I should use and examine for my final project and for the last 2 hours I've only come out with an incomplete sentence that I surely will delete any minuets.

Now, it's time to motivate myself.

Hello December

So here we are in December, and the feeling that I-don't-want-this-year-ends comes again. I don't know how that happens but I get it every year. Fine, I'm being a denial, to tell you the truth I don't want this year to end because I don't wanna be 20. To me, December is the first reminder that I'm gonna be a year older in about 2 months. Cliche, I know.

//

So, if you were on twitter and you're Indonesian, you must know that people are tweeting about Indonesia vs Malaysia soccer match tonight. And somehow, I'm not interested in it. Where's your nationality? Trust me, I've been asking the same question. I can watch world cup or premier league for hours but I can't stand watching my own country soccer match. Maybe I got the idea that every time there's a match, it always ended up chaotic, pfft. Pardon me who has no interest in such thing.

Life is like a box of chocolate

Forrest Gump (1994). I'm spending my afternoon re-watching this movie, a very good movie I must say.
,

I came back on Saturday afternoon, I spent my Ied at my Grand's house. It was okay, though I still feel there's a missing piece which I don't know what. I still have piles of work to do which I don't feel like doing it. But I guess, I can start from cleaning my bedroom.

Estimating beta

I'm sorry for being a bad blogger, but don't worry I won't write any excuses.
Anyway, remember how I got this assignment, about being an entrepreneur? well, me and my friends decided it to keep it, I mean, we're continuing as a real business.

It's not easy though, to create a business. You really have to suppress/redeem your egos in order to have the same voice. I learn a lot. I mean, this is the beginning where we adapt to each others characteristics in different situation. There's a lot that need to be fix, but we're getting there. I hope this is a good start. Ayo #kroketmamalulu pasti bisa! haha.

I'm off to Bengkulu tomorrow, will update very soon.

Assignment part 2: Selling

All photos courtesy to Gusri

We doubled our product since we're selling on Sunday and there'll be more customers. And we were right, it was crowded and our products are sold out. Satu pelajaran buat kita bersembilan: cari duit itu susah! mulai dari lapak di usir sampe nyari pembeli, susah banget. Baru kerasa uang 200 ribu itu berharga banget kalo didapet sendiri. Be grateful people, even though it's hard.

Painkillers

"Honor your friends. Unlike family, they don't have any obligation to be there for you, but they choose to." -Raya Fahreza (via Diana Rikasari)

And here they are the one I stick the most in campus,

Fiddelia Dumroh. She was my senior in Senior highschool and people tend to call us as twin just because we have similar name =.=". Ini orang paling mau enak sendiri, kalo mau nyari dia mudah, cari aja tempat yang paling enak dan gratis pasti dia disana. Paling mudah ngantuk di kelas dan sangat sengak, she's the big sister who believes that she still looks young (which is a lie). She's a helper, pernah dia nemenin saya ujan-ujanan di Pasar 16 cuma untuk nyari sepatu item untuk karantina trus bela-belain manggil guru silat supaya saya bisa tambil bagus di cultural show.

Yang sebelah kiri namanya Ayu Mardhotila. Pertama kali ketemu sama dia waktu technical meeting untuk Ospek fakultas, dia yang nyamperin duluan trus bilang 'eh, boleh kenalan gak?' haha. Orangnya paling kalem (kanji lembut, haha), dia paling sering bawa makanan dan habis oleh saya sama Fidel dan paling sering bolos. She goes to cinema a lot, at least once a week with her boyfriend. She has the longest relationship among us, 4 years old and she believes in high risk and high return on principle (aseek anak keuangan). And the one that I hug is Endah Putri Dianita and she bounces, haha. The most friendliest woman I've ever met beside Inaayatika, they both look alike and I think that's why I stick with them, they're very friendly. She knows everyone and everyone knows her, sampe kondektur bus pun dia tau. She's very kind, she helps you as long as she can and damn it, everybody likes her. I'm not joking.

And the others are Aurora Dian and Cindy Herin, we're close for the past a semester. They're the one in pinks; Cindy is the one with both arms open. Riri (Aurora) is my friend in high school and we weren't that close before, wait I don't think we even talk to each other haha, she's the boss among everybody. And Cindy -or we called cece- is the artist, she works in a local TV network as a news presenter. She obsessed with Korea and she wants us to call her Noona (wth? like hell we will, ha).

They truly are the painkillers. God love twist story, I will never know that I will be close friend with my senior before or someone I barely exchange words with, but it happens. This will last forever, let's pray.
